The Library at Cleveland State University is recognized as a central part of the University's academic life. The Library maintains a collection of over one million volumes and 3,500 journals and periodicals. Its staff of professionals includes information specialists in all areas.
Cleveland State University has matured into a comprehensive research institution. It anchors the downtown community and provides not only undergraduate programs, but also a wide variety of graduate programs with their accompanying scholarly components. The Library is the heart of this research and teaching institution.
The Friends of the Library aim to assist this great library in many tangible ways. We sponsor programs of interest to students, faculty and the general public in order to bring favorable attention to the Library. We encourage bequests and gifts of books, manuscripts, money, and equipment to strengthen the Library. We have worked hard to bring gifts to the Library of Special Collections materials, particularly those with a strong Cleveland link. Our growing list of Special Collections includes:
